How I Thrive takes an inside look at founders, entrepreneurs and leaders and the behind-the-scenes self-care work they do to in order to live balanced, happy lives. Today's edition is with MYSA Natural Wine founder Holly Berrigan, who ditches screens up to two hours before bedtime and changes song lyrics to make them about her dog.
Name: Holly Berrigan
Age: 30
City: Barcelona, Spain
Company: MYSA Natural Wine, a company that imports and sells natural wine.
Role: Founder
Beyond the role: I'm a traveler and a hiker, and I love scoping out vineyards with my partner and dog.
Morning routine:
I wake up and throw on my gym clothes, and sometimes I'll meditate for 15 minutes while drinking tea. If I wake up early enough, I head to the kitchen to make breakfast and perform a little coffee ritual (I love the HARIO V60), and drink a full glass of water before I eat anything. Or I'll have the coffee and sit down and journal while I eat, writing out my gratitudes and to-dos for the day, along with my three goal tasks for the day.
Next I'll do a power hour of work (whatever the thing I really don't want to do is), then head to the gym. If I don't feel like going to the gym, I'll take my dog up the big hill next to my apartment.
The first thing I do after work:
Dinner ritual:
We almost always eat at home. My partner gets a lot out of cooking, so he pretty much always does it and I support him by talking to him and putting on music while he makes something delicious. I always clean up afterward while he takes the dog out.
Nighttime routine:
After dinner I relax with partner and dog, wrap up anything with a screen then get ready for bed. I wash my face, brush my teeth, and put on cream. I then read in bed for an hour to two then snuggle with my partner before falling asleep. If I'm really feeling it, I might also meditate.
Self-care guilty pleasure:
Thermal baths! I wish I could go more.
Work day self-care hack:
A cup of tea and 30 minutes blocked to let my mind wander and recenter myself before I go back to being "productive."
How I define self-care:
Being kind to yourself and choosing yourself and your well-being daily so that you're able to best serve yourself and others.
Favorite childhood hobby or toy:
Singing for sure, I sang all throughout my youth and college and I really enjoy taking any song and changing the words to make it about my dog ... hah!
State of your (email) inbox:
ZERO. It's not that way all the time, but that's the goal. I always clear it out when I'm done with it, put it in a specific folder, and don't archive it until I've completed it.

I loved the article about Holly and hearing what her rituals are for the day. I know she speaks the truth as her mom and have seen that her self discipline, regular routines, love for her partner, their daily hikes and taking time for herself all supoort her healthy lifestyle. I strive to be like this as well but miss the mark on the workout section and am learning how to meditate which has been very beneficial. I love the picture you drew of Holly!
